AGLCC Rebrands as Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce
AUSTIN, Texas (December 4, 2017) — To better reflect the population that it serves, the Austin Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (AGLCC) has rebranded as the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce.
“In an effort to be even more inclusive, the Austin Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce decided to change its name to fully reflect the valued participation of bisexual and transgender members of our community,” says Edgar Gierbolini, president and CEO of the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce. “While the name of our organization has changed, the mission has not: The Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce will continue to serve the needs of LGBT-owned and LGBT-allied businesses in our city, and to look out for the economic interests of the LGBT community.”
The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce recently changed its name for similar reasons. It’s now known as the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce.
Along with the name change, the Austin chamber unveiled a new logo and a revamped website.
“The new look and new name underscore the desire of the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce to keep up with the times and serve even more LGBT-owned and LGBT-allied businesses, and to better showcase Austin as a great place to do business,” Gierbolini says.
